Privacy Policy
Effective October 19, 2026
Counterpart Business ("Counterpart") is an iPhone app for businesses to message each other, send invoices, proposals and contracts, and schedule meetings. This policy explains what information the app collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
- Sign-in details. When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier and your email address. From Google we receive only your basic profile (name, email address and profile picture); we don't access any other Google data. With Apple, you can choose to share a private relay address instead. If you allow it, we also receive your name to pre-fill your profile.
- Your business profile. Your business name, your name, and the invite code the app creates for you.
- Content you create. Messages, invoices and their payment records, meeting requests, proposals, contracts and the names you type to sign them.
- Private content. Notes, tasks and pipeline stages you add for a business. These are stored so they sync to your account, and they are only visible to you.
- Basic server logs. Our database provider keeps standard technical logs, such as IP addresses and request times, to keep the service secure and working.
What we don't collect
- No advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
- No payment card or bank details. Counterpart records that a payment happened and how; it never moves money.
- No access to your calendar. "Add to Calendar" opens Apple's own event screen, and only you decide whether to save the event.
- No contacts, location, photos or microphone access.
How your information is used
Only to run the app: to sign you in, show your business to the businesses you connect with, and sync your messages, invoices, meetings and documents between your devices and theirs. We don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
Who can see your information
- Businesses you connect with see your business profile and everything shared inside that connection: messages, invoices, payments, meetings, proposals and contracts. Connections only happen when one of you enters the other's invite code.
- No one else can see that content. Access is enforced on the server, so other users can't read connections they aren't part of.
- Your notes, tasks and stages are visible only to you, including never to the business they're about.
- Service providers. Data is stored with Supabase, our database and sign-in provider, which processes it on our behalf. Apple and Google handle their own sign-in screens under their privacy policies.
- Legal requirements. We may disclose information if required by law.
Keeping and deleting your information
- We keep your information while your account exists.
- Delete your account anytime in the app under Account → Delete account. This permanently deletes your profile, your connections, and the messages, invoices, meetings and documents in them, along with your notes and tasks.
- Disconnecting from a business deletes the shared history with that business for both of you.
- Copies you exported yourself, such as invoice PDFs you shared, aren't affected.
Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections, and your sign-in session is stored in your iPhone's Keychain. No method of storage is perfectly secure, but we limit access to what the app needs.
Children
Counterpart is a business tool and isn't intended for children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your information. You can correct your profile in the app and delete everything with Delete account. For anything else, contact us below.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
